Symptom: NO MNT TAK error on start up
When the customer turned Viper on he was getting the 'NO MNT TANK' message and the machine failed to continue start up and had red flashing light on print carriage. I had the customer reinsert the Maintenance Tank and put slight pressure on the tank, pushing it to the right. The printer then recognized that the tank was present. Once he released the pressure from the tank the error returned.
Solution: On occasion the maintenance tank needs to have a shim placed on the left side of the tank to create pressure between the chip on the tank and the connection on the actual printer. To do this you can fold a piece of paper to create a ship and place it between the maintenance tank and frame that it slides into. Doing this creates enough additional pressure between the chip on the tank and the connection on the printer to clear the error.
It is also possible to utilize tape to hold the MNT TNK to the right. Just be sure not to tape it in a manner that prohibits you from being able to later remove the tank when it needs to be reset.
